Chia, soya, camelina, amaranth - Panam France explores and selects the plant species of the future for a more diversified agriculture.
Our approach
A committed player in the search for original solutions
Panam France is a dynamic economic player in the search for original solutions focused on respecting and recognising the work of our farmers. Beyond our maize and sunflower ranges, we explore and select innovative plant species with high agronomic and nutritional potential.
Our approach is based on rigorous conventional breeding, conducted in partnership with the relevant sectors, to guarantee varieties adapted to French climatic conditions and the requirements of European markets.

Chia Oruro - first variety cultivable in France
Panam France has patiently selected through conventional breeding the chia variety Oruro, the first variety cultivable at our latitudes. This major breakthrough opens the way for French chia production, substituting imports with a high added-value local crop.
We work hand in hand with the Chia de France supply chain to promote this future crop, whose significant benefits for human health are demonstrated by the scientific community: rich in omega-3, dietary fibre, plant proteins and minerals.

Plant proteins
High-protein soya
Panam France was a pioneer in the commercialisation of high-protein soya (<46%) by introducing the Primus variety, very rich in protein with a white hilum. Panam France continues its efforts and now offers the Newport group 000 variety with an average protein content of 46% and a light hilum highly valued by industry. This variety meets the growing requirements of human food and animal nutrition sectors in terms of protein content and grain visual quality.

Camelina, purple maize, amaranth, textile hemp
Panam France is also working on improving varieties that are still too little known in France but have strong agronomic and commercial potential.
Camelina
A low-input winter oilseed, camelina has a remarkable fatty acid profile, rich in omega-3. Hardy and undemanding, it integrates perfectly into cereal rotations.

Purple maize, rich in anthocyanins (4000 mg/100 g), is a powerful antioxidant and stable natural colourant (E163), usable as a standard flour, heat-resistant up to 200°C. It is also an excellent protector of fat content in high-oil silage maize silos.
Amaranth
A pseudo-cereal with high nutritional value, amaranth is rich in complete proteins and minerals. It represents a diversification opportunity for farms looking for distinctive crops.
Textile hemp
Panam is developing a supply chain dedicated to the production of textile hemp seeds for industry. This initiative aims to strengthen national self-sufficiency by guaranteeing a supply of seeds produced in France, serving the entire sector.
